Risks involved in a transfer of your personal data to Google US:
Google relied on the Privacy Shield mechanism to justify the international data transfer to the US. In C-311/18 (Schrems II) the European Court of Justice (ECJ) considered the Privacy Shield as not sufficient as it cannot prevent disproportionate access to data by US authorities’ due to the fact that US law itself does not stipulate sufficient proportionality restrictions. Furthermore, the ECJ stated that the Privacy Shield does not provide compensatory protection for Europeans and does not grant enforceable rights against US authorities.
Google qualifies as an electronic communication service provider within the meaning of 50U.S.Code §1881(b)(4) and as such is subject to US intelligence surveillance under 50U.S.Code §1881a (“FISA702”). The access of US authorities to user data processed by Google is documented by Google's Transparency Report (see https://transparencyreport.google.com/user-data/us-national-security).
